Sierra Leone and Agilix Labs Formalize Partnership to Launch Future Learning Institute at EWF
The 2025 Education World Forum in London provided the stage for a milestone moment in African education reform as Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and Agilix Labs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish the Future Learning Institute (FLI) in Sierra Leone.
The signing ceremony, attended by ministers, international delegates, and education technology leaders, marks a significant step in Sierra Leone’s drive to modernize its education system and equip learners for the fast-changing demands of the AI era.
The agreement, first announced in an official press release, outlines a public-private partnership focused on leveraging advanced technology, learning science, and local leadership to accelerate ethical and effective use of AI in education. Through the Future Learning Institute, Sierra Leone aims to strengthen its instructional core, improve accountability, foster workforce partnerships, and increase the use of data and technology across its education sector.
A Shared Vision for Transformation
During the signing ceremony, Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Technical and Higher Education, and Curt Allen, President & CEO of Agilix Labs, both emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation. Dr. Wurie highlighted the country’s commitment to preparing young people for the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly evolving global workforce. Curt Allen echoed this vision, noting that the partnership is designed to help ministries rapidly adapt curricula, personalize learning, and ensure alignment with workforce needs using AI-driven insights.
What’s Next for the Future Learning Institute
The FLI will serve as a national hub for exploring and implementing AI-powered learning solutions tailored to local needs. Key components include a center for AI-powered learning exploration, robust technology infrastructure, and leadership development. Agilix will provide the technology, training, and support, while the Ministry will manage and promote the initiative as part of Sierra Leone’s broader education and workforce development strategy.
The public signing at EWF drew interest from other delegations and highlighted Sierra Leone’s role as a regional leader in education transformation.
