Tuesday 10 November 2026, 12:00 noon · Freetown Polytechnic, Jui Campus

The focus of the day

The Finder Program is about three things:

  1. Youth employment

The program prepares young adults to make a living as micro-consultants in their own communities.

  2. High tech

Learners build core AI skills over about a year of courses, at a Community Learning Center and on their own phones.

  3. Community impact

A Finder helps local leaders, business owners, farmers, teachers and others find better ways to do their work and put them into practice.

For young people: Learn AI. Earn money. Help others.

Questions reporters ask

Straight answers.

Has anyone become a Finder yet?

Not yet. Kono's first learners have completed their first courses and are working toward the certificate. A learner earns the Finder role in public after completing the certificate and presenting community work.

Does the program guarantee a job or income?

No. The program prepares people to offer paid services and build their own livelihoods. Income depends on each Finder's skills, the community work they can show, and client demand.

Who awards the certificate?

The Certificate in Applied AI is awarded through Trico College of Innovation and Advanced Technology. Its higher-education partners are Freetown Polytechnic, which hosts CLC TWO, and Kono University of Science and Technology (KUST), a partner of CLC ONE.

Who runs the program, and what is the government's role?

FLI runs the program. The Future Learning Institute was established under a 19 May 2025 MOU between the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and Agilix Labs. Local institutions host centers; FLI and Agilix support curriculum, technology and staff development.

Who can enroll, and what does it cost?

Adults aged 18 and over can enroll in the certificate courses. Fees for CLC TWO have not been published yet; the CLC TWO team explains fees, payment and learner support at the registration desk on 10 November.

Does a Finder need a computer and internet at home?

No. Lessons work on a phone and sync for offline use. The center provides computers, connectivity and backup power for practice and, after the course, for serving clients.

What does Agilix Labs do?

Agilix Labs is an education technology company based in Lehi, Utah, in the United States. Its Agilix Dawn platform delivers the courses, including lessons that work offline.

Background

About the partners.

About the Future Learning Institute

The Future Learning Institute (FLI) prepares young people to work as Finders: local professionals who use AI to help people and businesses solve practical problems, checking every result before they hand it back. FLI was established under a May 2025 MOU between Sierra Leone's Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and Agilix Labs. Its first Community Learning Center opened in Koidu City, Kono District, in March 2026; its second opens at Freetown Polytechnic in November 2026.

About Agilix Labs

Agilix Labs is an education technology company based in Lehi, Utah, in the United States. Its Buzz platform, which schools, universities and publishers use to deliver courses, has supported more than 55 million course enrollments, with users in more than 200 countries and territories. Its Agilix Dawn platform keeps lessons working on phones where connectivity is limited. Agilix Labs signed the 2025 MOU with Sierra Leone's Ministry of Technical and Higher Education that established FLI, and provides the learning platform for its centers.

About Freetown Polytechnic

Freetown Polytechnic traces its roots to Freetown Teachers College, established in 1964, and the Government Technical Institute, known as the Trade Centre, established in 1967. Both were founded soon after independence to widen access to education and build a skilled technical workforce. They merged in 2001, and the Polytechnic was formally launched in 2021. It now has campuses and centres across Sierra Leone offering programmes in education, engineering, business and applied sciences. Its Principal is Dr. Samba Moriba, and its Jui Campus hosts CLC TWO.
