The History of Agilix Labs
Agilix employees have worked together for 20 years building desktop and enterprise class software. In the 1980’s, Agilix employees launched Folio Corporation. Folio was the developer of FolioViews, an electronic content publishing and viewing system, with exceptional search functionality. The product has been licensed to over 800 electronic content publishers, including the top ten publishers worldwide. Over 35MM individuals have used FolioViews. The company was later acquired by Lexis-Nexis. Today, the product is known as FAST Folio, sold by FAST in Oslo, Norway.
After Folio, many members of the Agilix team went on to found one of the world’s first social networks, MyFamily.com, which also owns Ancestry.com. The founders raised over $90MM in venture capital to start the company. Today MyFamily.com is rated the #3 Web content subscription business in the world with over 1.6MM subscriptions. MyFamily.com delivered one of the first .NET-based XML Web Services solutions and built one of the most scalable Web networks based on Microsoft technology.
The Agilix team thrives on building start-ups. Rather than rest on any past successes, they started Agilix Labs in 2001. At the time, with strong ties to Microsoft, the team elected to begin development on Microsoft’s newest computer type, the Tablet PC. Today Agilix is considered one of the leading independent Tablet PC applications developers in the world.
Shortly after Agilix began Tablet PC development, it teamed up with FranklinCovey, a leading time management and leadership training company. Agilix contracted with FranklinCovey to develop applications that incorporated FranklinCovey’s methodologies , such as the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, into software solutions that made it easy for professionals to implement these tools easily and efficiently. Together FranklinCovey and Agilix have won numerous awards with Tablet Planner and now the PlanPlus family of software.
Agilix eventually released its own personal productivity tool, called GoBinder. The product has been very successful, receiving numerous awards, including eWeek’s 5th Annual Excellence Awards for productivity applications.
Because of its expertise in Tablet PC development, Agilix partnered with Microsoft in 2004 to deliver a set of .NET controls that made it easy to build ink note-taking applications for the Tablet PC. Called InfiNotes, the controls enable developers to quickly add rich note taking for Tablet PC applications.
In 2005, Agilix delivered its first solution into the education and learning market. The company also signed its first agreement with Blackboard Inc. to deliver Blackboard Backpack. Since this time, Agilix has been focused on delivering leading e-learning solutions in the education market.
